Courtroom prophecy — what the LORD requires, and where the Ruler will be born.
"And what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk ______ with thy God?"
Micah 5:2 names Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel's ruler seven centuries early — it's the verse the scribes quoted when the wise men asked Herod where the King was born.
Micah 6:8 — 'do justly, love mercy, walk humbly' — may be the most complete job description ever written in fifteen words.
Micah preached at the same time as Isaiah — a country prophet and a court prophet delivering the same warning from opposite ends of society.
A century later, Micah's preaching was cited in court to save Jeremiah's life — proof that a faithful sermon can outlive its preacher.
